Dr. Shane Lydon joins Franklin Health Surgery
FARMINGTON — Franklin Memorial Hospital President Rebecca Ryder recently announced that Shane Lydon MD FACS, a general surgeon, joined the staff of Franklin Health Surgery on Sept. 1.
Before joining Franklin Health Surgery, Dr. Lydon was a small business owner in Lincolnville, Maine. He has been practicing medicine since 1994, most recently at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport. He has a professional interest in laparoscopy.
Dr. Lydon completed a fellowship in general surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and his residency in general surgery at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Dr. Lydon received his medical degree at Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland.
"We are extremely fortunate to have recruited a surgeon who brings complementary skills to Franklin Health Surgery and more than 15 years experience," said Ryder. "Dr. Lydon brings advanced methods of surgical care to our community along with a professional interest in laparoscopy."
Dr. Lydon resides in Farmington with his wife, Judi, and their four children, ages 7 to 13. During his free time, he enjoys sailing, skiing, camping, hiking and other outdoor activities.
Franklin Health Surgery provides comprehensive evaluation and management of most conditions requiring general surgery, as well as advanced laparoscopic surgery, upper and lower GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and stereotactic needle breast biopsy. Other providers in the practice include Dr. Eric Gunther and Dr. Thomas Marshall.
