Real justice should be served
To the editor:
I’m appalled and outraged by a news broadcast I just witnessed about the Willy Gurette family and the brutal, vicious attack he and his daughter survived.
Their murderous attacker who used a machete and left Willy and his daughter, only 10, maimed and disabled for life, decided he wanted another lawyer to defend him.
Now, here comes the most outrageous and absurd reason he was allowed to change lawyers. Justice Nancy Mills said this Leo “Machete” man should be “comfortable” with his legal defense. What??? Does “Justice?” Mills believe that Willy and his daughter were “comfortable” as their bodies were viciously being hacked to pieces. I feel her “reasoning” in allowing this “injustice” is one of the imbalances in our court system in America today.
If she or her family were ever hacked nearly to death by such a criminal lunatic, would she (Mills) wish to make such a person “comfortable?”
I say, “think again, ‘Justice’ Mills” and allow the Gurette family some peace and closure in their tortured lives and not allow the criminal in this case the “upper hand.”
I know that someday real justice will be served in this case when we all will stand before the only true and fair judge.
Sincerely,
Vivian Ellis
