For the Lady Roadrunners, a critical goal was scored by Lizzie Carleton in this match-up. This came off the foot of Mt. Abram’s Ashley Shurtleff who earned the assist.
The Lady Roadrunner goalkeeping was shared between Raven Riendeau and Staci Plog.
Carrabec, 3 — Mt. Abram JV 2
SALEM -– For the Mt. Abram junior varsity team, Meika Toothacker’s goal and Taylor Henderson penalty kick were not enough in this 5:15 match-up with Carrabec last Friday. Because of declining numbers on the Cobra soccer program, the game was played in a 60- minute contest, rather then an 80-minute regulation game. The girls’ junior varsity program has four more games this season and are competing and progressing nicely.

Mt. Abram, 4 — Carrabec, 0
SALEM –- The Lady Roadrunners of Mt. Abram enjoyed an MVC match-up with the Cobra’s of Carrabec, last Friday, Oct. 2 where they out-shot the visiting team 17-4.
Mt. Abram senior Katie Buschmann earned a pair of goals on the evening.
The scoring started with Buschmann who found the back of the net 12 minutes into the game. Three minutes later senior forward Emily Luce found an open lane to the net from 36 yards out. Luce gave just enough touches on the breakaway to draw Carrabec keeper Marisa Murray into the field of play. Luce went to the right of the keeper for the 2-0 lead.
In what appeared to be a barrage, 27 seconds passed before freshman forward Sadie James fed Buschmann for the assist and the senior striker drilled the ball in from well outside the 18. That ended the MTA first half scoring.
The second half was much quieter; late in the action, MTA freshman Taylor Henderson fed sophomore Helena Williams on the far side. Williams blistered the ball to the back of the net for the fourth goal of the shut-out win.
Senior keeper Jillian Withee stopped three Carrabec (2-7) shots for the win with the Lady Roadrunners improving to a 5-4-1 record.
