York’s Corn Maize to be haunted

2009-10-14 / Arts & Entertainment

FARMINGTON — On Oct. 30 and 31, York’s Corn Maize will be haunted from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

“Watch out... adventurers should be prepared to be scared (very) when they challenge the labyrinth of the York’s corn maize on the Farmington Falls Road (US Route 2) at night,” Timothy D. Hardy, Lieutenant / Fire Inspector, Farmington Fire Rescue, said.

Adding to the natural spookiness of rustling 11-foot stalks and unlit pathways, the puzzle will become inhabited with wandering gorillas, wicked witches and other mysterious creatures.

“Come see what it might feel like to be on the sets of Children of the Corn, Jurassic Park and the Blair Witch Project all wrapped into one,” Hardy said.

The haunted maze is being put on by the Farmington Fire Rescue Department with proceeds to benefit the department’s Benevolent Association.

Admission to the haunted maze is $6 per person; children under 12 should be accompanied and adult. For more details: www.sandyriverfarms.com or www.farmingtonfirerescue. net.

In addition to the two evenings mentioned above, the maze is open every weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
