My vote on question one is NO

To the editor:

Do you remember the Parlor Game “GOSSIP” we used to play as kids?

A sentence was whispered to the first player, who then passed it on to her/his neighbor, etc. until it went around the entire group. The final version often was much different then the original.

We keep hearing that the New Testament to the Bible was not written down until 400 A.D. How many generations passed down the words of Jesus exactly as they heard them?

I have a question regarding one fable; Did Jesus say, “Suffer little children to come to me”? What did he mean? Should children suffer before they could see Jesus? What children? Only Jews? Or were children of all faiths, origins and sexes included? What about children who had birth defects or horrible diseases?

Surely the teachings of the Bible can be interpreted in many ways, depending on the personal belief of the reader.

MSNBC Anchor Keith Obermann states that the gay marriage is a question of love, not politics, not religion, not education... simply love. Some would have you believe that the Bible tells us that it is not OK for a man to marry a man or a woman to marry a woman. Mr. Oberman’s response to this was, “Quote me anything from your religious leader or book of choice telling you to stand against this. And then tell me how you can believe both that statement and another statement which reads only “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

The number one question on the November ballot reads only: “Do you want to reject the law that lets same sex couples to marry and allows individuals and religious groups to refuse to perform these marriages?”

That is clear to me. People who are opposed to this law need to ask themselves how will it adversely affect them. Our constitution states that all men (and women) are created equal… If this is so, how can we deny the right to marry to anyone, regardless of their race, creed or sexual orientation?

If you recall, 50 years ago it was illegal for colored to marry whites.

My vote on question one is NO.
