Maine author Lynn Plourde to visit KES

KINGFIELD — On Oct. 21, Maine author, Lynn Plourde, will be visiting Kingfield Elementary School. During an opening assembly, she will share several of her books interactively on slides and turn one into a simple play. Then she will meet with smaller groups of students to share extra stories and writing advice.

At 6 p.m. students (with their families) are invited to come in their PJs with a favorite stuffed animal and meet in their classrooms for literacy activities.

At 6:30 p.m. families are asked to join Plourde in the gym for a fun, interactive reading of her book Pajama Day and other activities.

Plourde has had more than 20 picture books published, including her newest “Grandpappy Snippy Snappies” and “The Dump Man’s Treasures,” a 2008 Smithsonian Notable Book for Children. Her other books include “Dino Pets,” “A Mountain of Mittens,” “At One: In a Place Called Maine” and “Margaret Chase Smith: A Woman for President,” a 2008 National Council for Social Studies Notable Book.

Plourde is a Skowhegan native who currently lives in Winthrop with her family.
