John Clarence Hinkley Sr.
MERCER — John C. Hinkley Sr. 59, formally of Kingfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born March 2, 1950 in Kingfield the son of Perley Sr. and Shirley (Hesketh) Hinkley.
John was currently employed by Richard Carrier Trucking. He loved working in the woods which he had done for many years prior to trucking. He had also worked at several wood mills including his family’s mill, “Hinkley’s Woodworking.
John loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and working in his garden. He enjoyed playing bingo, drinking coffee and telling his stories. John also loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by a son Shane Hinkley, his mother, Shirley (Hesketh) Libby, a brother, Perley Hinkley Jr., paternal grandparents, Evan and Nellie Hinkley, and maternal grandparents, Charlotte Crocker and Irving Hesketh.
He is survive by his wife Linda (Frost) Hinkley of Mercer; his children, John C. Hinkley Jr. of Mercer, Jeffrey Hinkley of Kingfield, James Hinkley and his wife, Amy, of North New Portland, Jason Hinkley and his wife, Gloria, of Buxton, and Deanna (Hinkley) Sampson and her husband, Thomas, of Buxton; two step-children, Karen Bell of New York, and Daniel St. Pierre of Freeport; 11 grandchildren, Andrew, Kelly, Julia, Autumn, Zachary, Ryan, Kaylee, Joshua, Jerrica, Thomas, and Teagan; four step-grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher, Kristi, and Eric; his sisters, Janet and her husband, Randy, Judith and her husband, Darryl; his brothers, Jay, Jaret and Jack; three nieces and nine nephews; and his best friend, Dennis Nile.
A funeral service was held Sat. Oct. 10, 2009 at the Kingfield United Methodist Church on High Street in Kingfield. Interment was in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Kingfield.
