1934-2009 — He was an intellectual man who took great pride in his family

FARMINGTON — Frank K. Jones passed away peacefully at the Orchard Park Nursing facility in Farmington. Frank went home to be with his Lord on Nov 4, 2009, with his loving family by his side.

Born Nov. 19, 1934 in Weld, he was the son of Acton and Alice Jones, one of eight children. Frank grew up on a small farm on Center Hill in Weld. He was an intellectual man who took great pride in his family.

The valedictorian of his high school class, he went on to serve his country in the Air Force for the next 16 years after graduation.

Upon retiring from the armed forces, he spent the next 16 years in the Civil Service, working as a computer programmer at the Nashua Aviation Bureau in Nashua, N.H.

Frank had a deep affection for the Church of the Nazarene. He had an uncanny memory and was well versed in the bible. He was very proud of the fact his brother was the D.S. of the Church of the Nazarene in the State of Maine. He would often mention he had a brother-in-law that was also a Nazarene minister as well.

He thought of his sisters as his very own angels of mercy.

He enjoyed writing letters to friends and family all over the country. He also enjoyed music, going to church and singing gospel songs. His favorite passion was visiting his family. He looked forward each year to his family reunions.

He had traveled extensively throughout his life. He had seen nearly all 50 states as well as many foreign countries.

He and his loving wife of nearly 30 years enjoyed traveling, restaurants and visiting friends and family from Maine to Vermont

They were the sweetest of couples and each other’s very best friend. After many years of health problems they are reunited in their heavenly home. Frank will be sadly missed by his three sons, Kendall Jones of San Jose, Calif.; Kevin Jones of Nashville, Tenn. and Randall Pinkham Sr. and his wife, Peal, of Farmington; his only brother, Rev. Cecil Jones and his wife, Beverly, of Farmingdale; three sisters, May Cooper and her husband, Fred, of Granville, N.Y., Gram Baker of Wilton, and Lillian Leeman and her husband, James, of Phillips; two brothers-in-law, Dale Briggs and Clayton Haley.

Frank was predeceased, by his loving wife, Marilyn E. Jones; his parents, Acton and Alice Jones; and three sisters, Ella Webster, Maude Briggs and Nellie Haley.

Memorial services will be held next summer at the Farmington Falls Nazarene Church at 1 p.m. July 24, 2010. There will be a graveside service to follow as well as a family and friends gathering.

Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan.
