New school board members to be elected RANGELEY — With the passage of the Reorganization Plan for the Rangeley Lakes School Union #37, the towns of Dallas Plantation, Magalloway Plantation, Rangeley and Sandy River Plantation will be moving forward with the implementation of the region’s plan. The next step is a special election of new school board members to form the regional district. Each of the participating towns will be electing their own representatives to the new board. Dallas Plantation and Sandy River Plantation will each have two members. Magalloway Plantation will have one member and the town of Rangeley will have five members. The special election to elect the board of directors is scheduled for January 19, 2010. Residents who are interested in running for a seat on the new board need to obtain nomination papers from their local town offices. After the results of the election are certified by the State Board of Education the first meeting of the new RSU Board will be held sometime during March. The new board of directors will participate in the development of the 2010-11 budget in anticipation of assuming responsibility for the newly formed district on July 1, 2010.
