First aid and CPR classes offered

FARMINGTON — Registrations are now being accepted for CPR and first aid classes taking place at the Ben Franklin Center at Franklin Memorial Hospital starting this month.

The first aid course is being offered at two times, with the first standard first aid class taking place on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 5 to 9 p.m. and the second offering happening on Thursday, Jan. 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. First aid is the immediate care that you give someone with an illness or injury before trained help arrives. Topics will include first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, and environmental emergencies.

A Heartsaver CPR course is being offered on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 9 p.m. The Heartsaver CPR course follows the standards and guidelines for CPR from the American Heart Association and is designed for the general public. It will include information on basic cardiac life support techniques for adults, children, and infants, as well instruction on automated external defibrillators.

There is a $45 fee for each course, which includes the cost of the textbook, class, and course completion cardor $60 to attend both classes.
