KINGFIELD -- Over 25 members of the Norton / Wuori American Legion and Auxiliary Post #61 gathered on Monday, Nov. 2 at the Legion hall for a Thanksgiving dinner preceding their meetings.

Auxiliary members cut out coupons which are sent overseas for military families. Then several of the members decorated about 50 coffee cans with Christmas wrapping and decoration to fill with homemade cookies and sold for fundraising at the Holiday Fair on Nov. 28 at the Kingfield Elementary School starting at 9 a.m.

It was noted that 100 percent of the dues for Auxiliary members this year has been paid. A discussion was held about the Christmas Party that will be held on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at the hall. There will be finger foods served, with everyone exchanging a gift (not to exceed $5). The entertainment for the evening will be Sonny Perry with his Jericho Band offering old time gospel and country music.

At the Legion meeting, Commander Bert Dyer said that there would be a burning of the flags on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. at the monument on Depot Street. It was noted that the five medallions depicting the five military services located in front of the Legion Hall have been taken down and will be hand-painted and then put back up.
