KINGFIELD Mariah Ross, 1st place; Dimitri Maxsimic, 2nd; and Emily Listowich, 3rd are the three top winners of the Stratton-Eustis Lion’s Club Peace Poster Contest from the Kingfield Elementary School. Each year Lion’s Clubs around the world sponsor the Lion’s International Peace Poster Contest in local schools. Posters are evaluated on artistic merit, portrayal of theme and originality. This year, Stratton-Eustis Lion’s Club President Bruce Marcoux, Chairman of the Peace Poster Contest Pat Franz and Lion’s Club Leo’s Advisor Marge McHugh presented the certificates to all those who took part in the contest and then awarded the top three awards. All first place winners were given an MP4 as a first prize gift from the Lions Club and will now compete in the State of Maine Lions contest scheduled for Nov. 21, for a grand prize winner. All winning entries will also be displayed at the State of Maine Lions Convention at Sunday River in April 2010. The Lion’s Club International has sponsored the annual competition since 1988.
