SALEM -– This Friday Mt. Abram will host its annual alumni games featuring many familiar faces from the past including a special visit by the 2007 Lady Roadrunner Gold Ball State Champions.

Mt. Abram girls’ coach Doug Lisherness explained that it’s almost certain that Stephanie Coburn, Kenni Thomas, Janessa Thomas, Logahn Walker and Brittany York will all take the court together. The 2007 starting five will be facing a young group of varsity Lady Roadrunners starting at 6 p.m.

The boys’ game, which is scheduled to commence at 7:30, is also likely to see some familiar players such as Jordan Norton, Sam Simpson, Kenny Beane, Scott Dixon, Rand Richards and Ethan Betts, Marty Ryan, Davin Kangas, as well as others out on the court.

On the girls’ end you may see Logahn’s sisters Katie, Sarah and Shannon as well as Sephanie Hood, Lynn Plog, Sara Martin as well as others return to the Runnerdome.

“On the girls’ side, the main attraction I would assume will be the return of the Gold Ball team. That is quite a line-up,” Lisherness said.

Currently Kenni is starting for the University of Maine, Farmington and teammates with York. Logahn will be playing for University of Maine at Presque Island next year and Janessa has played for Central Maine Community College, Lisherness said. To have so many of them playing college ball is terrific, he explained.

The coach said that they’re making posters and advertising the event so plenty of people should come out to watch. Lisherness also said he expects that the Boosters will be there to kick off their season of hearty treats.

Above all, Lisherness said, you get to watch some typically really good basketball at the alumni event.

Look for seniors Kenny Moir and Jim Barker to be lighting up the boards for the current Roadrunners and watch for Kylie Rolbiecki and a host of freshman starters on the girls end.

The regular season is expected to start in the first week of December. The home opener is expected to be held on Dec. 7 against Livermore Falls with a girls’ varsity game at 4 p.m. followed by boys’ JV at 5:30. The boys’ varsity game will start at 7 p.m.
