Rangeley Skating Club open house

RANGELEY — The Rangeley Skating Club will be holding its first Open House at Ecopelagicon Nature Store on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizers urge the public to stop by and meet members, enjoy refreshments and win door prizes; raffle tickets are also being offered.

Club memberships are being offered for Individual for $10, Family for $25 and Business for $50. All membership money will go to help maintaining the public skating rink in front of the store. The entrance for the rinks in the winter is located on the Haley Pond Park right next door.

The Park Committee has done a lot of work this fall, making the entrance a little neater, cleaning up the brush and trees so that the view from this park is much nicer as well.

If anyone has used skates and are not using them anymore, he or she can bring them along and donate them to the club. The skates are available for use free; there is a donation can if someone wants to donate and all donations are welcome. The skates are sharpened and put out for use during the winter months.

The Rangeley Skating Club and the Town of Rangeley have worked hard to provide free public skating on Haley Pond in the winter. There are lights for night skating, the rinks are plowed and resurfaced with new layers of ice when needed, benches are available to sit on, and shovels are at hand to help scrape and clean the ice. There is also a special area for the little ones to learn in.

“Please come to our Open House, see what our door prize and raffle is all about, let’s hear your ideas and get involved,” a spokesperson for the club said. For further information, call Dave Rodway at 670-5125 or Linda Sikes at 491-6566.
