Art opening reception set

      KINGFIELD — Saturday, Dec. 12 Kingfield welcomes a new art showing at the Reinholt Gallery. Ian Reinholt, a custom furniture maker, and Saskia Reinholt, a fine artist who works in oils, silks and stained glass, plan to present their work and the work of 21 other local artists at the reception from 4 to 8 p.m. at the 245 Maine Street gallery.

Giving Tree wish-lists sought
      KINGFIELD — The Kingfield Giving Tree is currently accepting wish-lists from those who would like to be included on this year’s holiday tree. Recipients of the giving tree gifts can be those who are in financial need, people who are alone for the holidays, homebound residents and those who have been ill. Recipients are kept anonymous.

Door-to-door food drive set in the Valley
      CARRABASSETT VALLEY — On Saturday, Dec. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m., the students and staff of Carrabassett Valley Academy will be traveling doorto door to collect canned food and dry goods to help feed needy families in the area during the rest of the winter.

Tree-lighting, holiday sing-a-long set
      STRATTON — Festivities to kick off the holiday season will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 4:30 to 5 p.m. with the lighting of the tree at the junction of routes 27 & 16, and the singing of Christmas carols. Parking is available at the Diamond Corner Bed & Breakfast. The Stratton/Eustis Lions Club will have hot beverages & cookies available, donations welcomed.
