STRONG — If you are looking for just the right gift for a wedding or shower, or a special handcrafted item for your home, then check out the Ewe-N-Me Country Treasures gift shop owned by Lorraine Chandler.
Located next to Rene’s Mane Attraction Beauty Shop, the gift shop is loaded with hand-painted gifts done by Chandler who started her painting career back in 1986 with artists Ann Fernald and Anna Kershner. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for Wed-nesdays when she is open from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturdays are by appointment by calling 684- 5577 or 684-3776.
Chandler also carries painting supplies —various types of paint, brushes, doll supplies with different types of hair and a whole section of wooden ware including shaker boxes, bird houses, bowls, plates and lamps along with tin ware to paint on. Also in the shop are instruction books and kits that include projects to complete on those long cold winter days.
Chandler recently traveled to Madison where she learned brush stroking. For years Chandler gave painting lessons until she was involved in a severe automobile accident in 2006. Now she has started a few lessons again in tole painting with several women from the Lewiston/ Auburn area.
