System engineer, designer and inventor Jim LaBrecque (left), Senate president and gubernatorial candidate Libby Mitchell and Clyde MacDonald tour the freezer section of Tranten’s Family Store in Kingfield. From here they traveled to the Farmington store for a tour and later that evening, Mitchell attended an energy forum at the University of Maine, Farmington. Tranten’s market in Kingfield is becoming a real icon in recognition when it comes to energy savings through technologically advanced refrigeration, heating and air conditioning systems. The businesses in Kingfield and Farmington use more than 40 percent less energy than industry standards, while at the same time they do not burn any fossil fuels for heating.
