KINGFIELD — Bright sunny skies brought hundreds of shoppers to the gym at the Kingfield Elementary School Saturday as some 45 exhibitors presented their crafts and cooked items.
Tina Dickey of North Anson had many wooden items that she had cut out with her mother painting them. Little Nick Poulin of Kingfield purchased one of her wooden basketball games. Dickey said that one woman purchased several of those to send to the servicemen in Iraq. Sharon Parsons of Kingfield had her hand-crafted baskets for sale along with Gary and Lois Hall with their fine silver jewelry.
Members of the Kingfield and New Portland Firemen’s Auxiliary also offered homemade goodies and held a raffle making $170 on their food sale with Lou Brewer of Highland Plantation winning one of the three fire trucks along with Linda Norton and Laura Dunham. Also on hand were members of the Norton Wuori American Legion Auxiliary who sold decorated cans of cookies making about $100 for their group.
Georgie Woodford, a longtime school office manager at the Kingfield school, was in charge this year helping the 8th grade organize the event which netted that class $700.
When asked just how many exhibitors there were in all the rooms and gym, Woodford said she wasn’t sure but thought there were 45, but if given a minute, she would count them. Just then her little granddaughter, Hannah Woodford, looked up and said “that takes talent.”
In one of the school rooms, the Girls Talk group had snacks of coffee, donuts, muffins and other foods on sale making some $400 for their group.
