Runners remain winless

Wiscasset, 42 — Mt. Abram, 34
SALEM –- If going 0-17 from the foul line in the first half isn’t troubling enough for Mt. Abram varsity coach Doug Lisherness and his varsity squad, then losing to a winless Wiscasset (0-5) to remain winless themselves is. Last Friday, Mt. Abram hosted Wiscasset in an MVC match-up to see who’ll rid the zero from their own win columns.

After leading the game to end the first, 8-6, MTA was out-shot 15-7 before heading to the lockers at the half without a free throw converted. Both squads scored eight in the third and this time MTA could not climb back in being out-shot 13-11 in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Roadrunners came back in the second half going 5-for-8 from the line or 5-for-25 on the night.

MTA’s Tori Beane hit one from outside the arc which added to her five-point night. Kylie Roliecki was the team high scorer with seven points, followed by Miranda Smith with six. Rolbiecki and Smith each fouled out in the game.

Mary Ellen True led the Falcons with a game-high 13 points that evening.

On Tuesday, Dec. 15, the Lady Roadrunner varsity team traveled to Jay, (3-1).

Tiger Beth Moore led the game in scoring with 15- points on the day in a 52-33 Jay win. MTA freshman point guard Tori Beane had a team high 9 points all from outside the arc. Miranda Smith recorded seven points under the net and Amanda Smith put up five points in the effort.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22 the ladies traveled to Carrabec for some junior varsity and varsity action. The Lady Roadrunners returned from the Christmas break and will travel to Monmouth on Wednesday, Dec. 30. Look for them to return home on Saturday, Jan. 2 for a matchup with Mtn. Valley. JV action starts at 12:30 followed by varsity at 2 p.m.
