Aileen Leona Kingsley
STRONG — Aileen L. Kingsley, 90, of Strong, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Edgewood Manor Living Center in Farmington.
She was born Oct. 20, 1919 in Redington, the daughter of John A. and Gladys (Bubier) McCourt. She was educated in the schools of Jay and graduated from Jay High School in 1937. She married Merlon Kingsley on April 3, 1949 in Strong. In her early years she worked for Diamond Match, Wood Heal in Phillips, Forster Mfg. Co., C.H. Brackley of Strong, John DiStefano, Maine Dowell and later for G.H. Bass in Wilton until retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the Johnson-Cox Auxiliary Post of Strong, Strong Historical Society and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for veterans at Togus and families in the Town of Strong. Aileen was a member of the Strong United Methodist Church where she was secretary for many years. She enjoyed the out of doors with animals and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Merlon Kingsley of Strong; and her son, Lynn White and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Phillips; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at the Strong Village Cemetery in the spring.
