Jacqueline G. “Jackie” LaChapelle
SCARBOROUGH — Jacqueline G. “Jackie” LaChapelle, 76, widow of Arthur LaChapelle, of Forest Lane, Cumberland, formerly of Coplin Plt., passed away at Hospice of Southern Maine on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, surrounded by all of her children and family.
She was born Sept. 13, 1933 in Mexico, a daughter of John and Agnes (Lacroix) Waugh and received her education in the Mexico school system and graduated in 1951. She married George Jamison and they raised four children in Rangeley.
Mrs. LaChapelle worked for many years as a social worker for Western Maine Community Action in Franklin County until her retirement. She was an avid reader, a phenomenal card player, and loved to go fishing.
She is survived by her four children, Terrene Smith of Rangeley, Stephen Jamison of Round Rock, Texas, Matthew Jamison of New Hampton, N.H., and Laura Gagne of Cumberland; step-mother, Dorothy (Dube) Waugh of Mexico; sisters, Lorraine Cyr of Rumford and
Barbara Laramee of Mexico; a brothers, John H. Waugh Jr. of Portland and David J. Waugh of Boone, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur on Feb. 1, 2004; a sister, Carol Pratt of Gorham, N.H.; and a brother, Greg Waugh of Mexico.
Memorial services were held on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at the Wiles Remembrance Center in Farmington with a reception following the services.
Interment will be June 23 at 2 p.m. at the
Flagstaff Cemetery in Eustis.
The family asks that gifts be given in Jackie’s memory to the Casco Bay Dialysis Unit, 2 Chabot St., Westbrook, Maine 04092.
