Sibyl Lillian Fotter
BINGHAM — Sibyl Lillian Fotter, 103, of Bingham passed away Jan. 18, 2010 at Somerset Rehabilitation & Living Center in Bingham.
She was born April 26, 1906 in Flagstaff the daughter of Joseph M. and Lena (Brackett) Myers. She attended Flagstaff and Stratton Schools before attending Central Maine General Hospital Nursing School, graduating in 1926. Sibyl married Lewis Fotter on Nov. 17, 1947 in Kingfield, Lewis passed away Nov. 19, 1986. She worked as a Health Officer for the Town of Eustis from 1958 to 1996 although in her own mind she never really retired and continued working at the nursing home that cared for her. Sibyl was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star in Stratton, The Phythian Sisters, Past Chiefs Club, and The Health Council of Stratton (later known as Mt. Bigelow Health Association). She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, loved flowers and gardening, and enjoyed cooking for her family for the holidays.
Sibyl is survived by her son, Willis M. Smart, and his wife, Anna B., of Cornish; a daughter-in-law, Joan Smart of Scarborough; five grandchildren, Robert Smart and his wife, Pam, Bryan Smart and his wife, Terry, Jerry Smart and his wife, Margarite, Brian and Maureen and Robyn Oliver and her husband, Steve; eight great-grandchildren Sean, Whitney, Kelsey, Griffin, McKenzie, Connor, Callaghan and Caoimhe; and many cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis; and her so, Robert.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Adams~McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court St., Farmington.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Flagstaff Cemetery in Eustis.
