RSU #78 to hold first board meeting
RANGELEY — The State Board of Education set the first meeting for the newlyformed RSU #78 Board of Education Directors for Wednesday, Feb. 24, in the Multi Purpose Room at the Rangeley Lakes Regional School at 6 p.m. The agenda for that meeting was released recently.
The meeting will begin with the Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance.
An overview of the organization process the meeting proper and will include the welcome and introductions, a brief history of how the RSU got to this point, and finally an overview of next steps.
At this point, the meeting will be concerned with the board of directors’ organization. This will include the election of the chairperson, conducted by the interim secretary, after which the new chairperson will take over the meeting and complete the remainder of the agenda, which will include the election of vice-chairperson. The board will then turn its attention to the voting process and quorum, which will include a discussion on said topics, a vote on the process for voting and what constitutes a quorum, a discussion of policies, a discussion of how to proceed with the adoption of policies, and a vote on the adoption of policies.
The next segment in the meeting will be concerned with adjustments to the agenda, which will include a discussion of the agenda format, as well as a discussion concerning the process for making adjustments to the agenda.
The subsequent four portions of the meeting will concern the following topics: consideration of the minutes, public comments (including a discussion of the process for allowing public comments), communications, and old business.
New business, the next part of the meeting, will comprise a discussion of the superintendent of schools’ job description, a vote on that job description, and a discussion of and subsequently a vote on the process for electing the superintendent. An executive session to discuss the hiring of the superintendent will follow.
The board of director’s calendar for the remainder of the 2009-10 school year, and consideration of a name for the new school unit rounds out this portion.
The superintendent’s report will wrap up the meeting itself, after which it will adjourn.
