MTA competing in Class B state championship

SALEM – The Mountain Valley Conference champion Mt. Abram High School Alpine and Nordic ski teams are in the midst of the state Class B championships this week. On Tuesday, Feb. 16 the teams arrived at Saddleback for giant slalom action which kicked off at 9 a.m.

That same day the strong MTA Nordic teams led by coach Buzz Bean arrived at the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center for a 3 p.m. start. Ski racers competed in freestyle competition.

Today, Feb. 17, the Roadrunners return to Saddleback to take on the Class B field in the Slalom competition. The girls will race first with a 9:30 a.m. start.

The final event of the state competition is the X-C Classical competition which will be held at the Rangeley Trail Center on Thursday, Feb. 18. The girls kick off the racing with a 9 a.m. start.

An award ceremony will follow at the Saddleback Base Lodge
