Lexington Historical Association seeks donations

LEXINGTON TOWNSHIP — Members of the Lexington Historical Association Collections Committee are looking for donations of early maps, photos, historical documents, pictures or sketches of early homes and buildings, or other memorabilia of Lexington. Stories of early settlers (families) are needed. Members are also very interested in adding voice recordings of elders’ recollections.

Lexington was settled in 1807 on land known as Sandy Stream Plantation. The Town of Lexington became unorganized in 1939 and continues today as Lexington Twp. At one time it had seven schools, mills, blacksmith and harness shops, a hotel, dance hall, inns, taverns, stores and a town hall. The town population swells with fishing, hunting and snowmobile seasons as there are many camps within the township’s boundaries.

If you have donations that you would like to contribute, contact Emmons or Barbara Pinkham at 465- 8238 or Dave or Linda Miller at 628-3684.
