Educate us with honest and complete information
I recently read an article disallowing Dixmont’s wind generation ordinances. I noted that not only is the author cutting small town voters’ last protection against “Big Wind” and big business in general, but Prof. Delogu is bluntly advocating for the utter destruction of our form of government. This article utterly does away with the notion that “we the people” rule this nation and our own communities. It is a direct attack on our rights to HOME RULE!
I live in Phillips, Maine. My vote is my voice here. Since I research and listen and travel and visit and experience things for my self, my voice is based in large part on facts! When I tell you that WE HAVE HOME RULE it means just that! I’ll be long dead and gone before I ever give Prof. Delogu and his associates power over my nation, my state and my town. My voice, and your voice, and her voice and his voice are what make the laws in our tiny towns and villages. Got it?
The town of Dixmont or Avon or Highland Plantation or any other community HAS the RIGHT to defend itself through citizen voted ordinances against any and all industries, development proposals or other major changes within its borders. You and I can’t possibly over-power the massive financial coffers of “INDUSTRY,” but we must live with the consequences of what “INDUSTRY” does in our tiny towns. As long as the CEOs and Comptrollers and VPs of this and that (and their wives and husbands and children) continue to live “away” there is no one on hand to see and care about and defend against these invasions... except the local residents themselves!
In my America, my Maine, my Phillips, if you can’t educate us with Honest and Complete information, thereby earning our support and cooperation, you do not have the right nor have you the power to slam your corporate will down our throats and valleys and extended generations. In my America we decide, not some professor or lobbyist or bureaucrat with one hand in corporate pockets and the other next to the ears of Augusta.
