‘Wow, I have a tough decision to make!’

2010-03-03 / Letters

To the editor:

In reading the requests for votes in the previous Irregular (Feb. 17, 2010), I thought to myself, “Wow, I have a tough decision to make.” Then, as I was contemplating my choices, all the rumors being said about all the potential selectman started swarming my thoughts.

One of the downfalls of small town government is that everyone is connected in someway, whether it be by family or some other relationship. With everyone knowing everyone, the run for local office turns into cliques in a middle school lunchroom —judging petty things, rather than a decision on who is best suited for the job.

I have known all four candidates virtually my whole life and respect each one of them. They are all noble, hardworking individuals with great families and great ambition. Most importantly, they all have the greater good for the Town of Strong in mind.

That being said, I am asking the voters of the Town of Strong to come to the polls on March 5 and vote for your candidates, step out from behind the walls of other people’s personal agendas, look out beyond the “he said, she said” of this town and support the candidates that you, not people around you, but the ones YOU know will make a difference in YOUR town.

To Milt, Bobby, Rupert, and Jim —Good Luck to all of you and may the best men win!
Sincerely,
Megan Norster
Strong
