Wetherill benefit planned
RANGELEY — The public is invited to the Club House Restaurant on March 5, at 5 p.m. for a benefit for the Wetherill family who lost everything in a fire that destroyed their home.
Friends and neighbors are gathering items to be offered for sale at a silent auction that night (more information may be obtained by calling the Club House at 864-9955). Along with the silent auction, there will also be a benefit food buffet, and early entertainment by Joe and Scott, a local band.
At 7:30 p.m., those attending will listen to the musical sounds of a band called Funky and Soulwinkle: The Legend. This super-group of musicians comprised of top ranked New York City and Maine musicians get down with 70s funky Blue Note jams. According to organizers, this is a smoking hot sextet guaranteed to make you sweat and dance. The band is composed of drums (Devin Gray, son of Linda and Jeff Gray, Rangeley summer residents), keyboard (Sam Barsh), saxophone (Will Jones), guitar (Ryan Blotnick), bass (Chris Higgins) and trumpet (Mark Tipton). They will play a funky, afro-dance/pop groove based, mixed with original jazz compositions and energetic solos.
The following night, March 6, the band will play at The Bag at Sugarloaf. A benefit donation of $10 will be collected at the door.
