RUMFORD POINT — Congratulating alpine racers for a great racing season on its Web site, the Maine Ski Racing Association listed J3 and J4 qualifications and state quota teams for the post season events.

The top skiers in MARA standings have qualified for the Maine J3 Junior Olympics. The top J3 racers are determined by adding the five best finishes or runs over a series of qualifying events. The best possible score would be five.

This year the JOs will be held at Sunday River from March 13 to 17. The top Maine skiers will compete in slalom, giant slalom and super-G.

Congratulations go out to Sam Morse and Jenie Rowland of SCVA who finished in the top of the J3 class. Morse and Rowland tallied a total of seven first place finishes. Rowland also came across the line four times in second place. In girls’ racing, Czari Cochrane was very close with six points or four firsts and she also had four seconds.

The next in standings will race at the Eastern J3 Finals at Mount Sunapee from March 4 to 7. These racers will follow a similar format as the Junior Olympics.

The top J4 boys and girls will compete at the J4 Future Stars.

In the top of the division was an impressive season by SCVA’s Lexi Bullen who podiumed in every qualifier this season and had the perfect score of three out of three runs or races. Meghan McCormack also had a score of three for a second in standings.

Other J3 and J4 racers have qualified for the Francis Piche held at Gunstock Mountain Resort on March 19 and 20.

The J5 MARA racers finished their qualification on Feb. 28.
