Grace Potter and Rustic Overtones to headline March concerts at Sugarloaf
CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Bud Light Concert Series kicks into high gear at Sugarloaf in March, with shows from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and the Rustic Overtones scheduled for March 13 and March 27.
The year-long Bud Light Concert Series brings nationally recognized musical acts to Sugarloaf’s main stage in the King Pine Room throughout the winter season. This year’s concert series features a total of four dates, in addition to the annual Bug Light Reggae Festival.
The driving hard-rock sound of Grace Potter and The Nocturnals has recently gained national attention with their newest album, This is Somewhere. Leading the charge is 26-year-old Grace Potter whose dynamic vocal delivery and unique style behind the Hammond B-3 and piano has not only earned the band stage space with Gov’t Mule and moe at the 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival, but has launched them into the national spotlight. The band has recently toured with acts such as Taj Mahal, Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews Band, The Black Crowes, The Derek Trucks Band, and blues legend Robert Cray. Their cover of Jefferson Airplaine’s “White Rabbit” will be featured in the new Disney movie Alice in Wonderland. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals will be performing live in the King Pine Room Saturday, March 13.
The Portland based Rustic Overtones have been jamming since the early nineties and have the distinguished honor of being the first group to perform live on XM Satellite Radio. In the group’s earliest days, they were mostly classified as a ska and soul band, but their sound has since become much more refined and diversified. Reunited in 2007 after a five-year hiatus, this hard-hitting, show-stopping, horn-powered rock band’s new music reflects their newfound independence.
