Multimedia postmodern dance presentation planned
FARMINGTON -— University of Maine at Farmington will feature a live multimedia presentation on Postmodern Dance by Bangor Ballet’s Heinrick Snyder. This fusion of historical reflection, video montage and dance will be presented at 11:45 a.m., on Thursday, March 11, in Lincoln Auditorium in UMF’s Roberts Learning Center.
The event will open with “Random Campus,” a video montage and dance performance that celebrates the Postmodern Dance movement. It will be followed by a lecture entitled “Creating Postmodern Value through Dance,” based on Snyder’s research into the evolution of postmodern ideas in America.
Snyder has enjoyed a long career in the arts in Maine and has worked tirelessly creating choreography and inspiring dancers. He currently performs with the Bangor Ballet and has worked with both the Robinson Ballet in Bangor and the Bossov Theatre Ballet in Pittsfield. Snyder has also worked with the Bangor Youth Ballet, serving as artistic director for its 2006 performance of “The Little Mermaid.”
This event is free and open-to-the-public and is sponsored by the UMF Division of Sound, Performance and Visual Inquiry.
