Thank you for making this dream come true

To the editor:

I am so happy and my heart is so warmed that I would like to shout from the roof the new Carrabassett Valley Library and Community Center, but at 81 ½ years of age that is not going to happen.

I would like to get up in front the Carrabassett Valley Town Meeting, but I would probably get so choked up and teary that I couldn’t speak. SO, I am using this medium to say THANK YOU to every voter, taxpayer, financial and time contributor who has made this dream come true. Carrabassett Valley is a true complete paradise for the smallest baby and his/her parents to the oldest of residents and visitors from afar.

Bill and I came here originally to ski more 30 years ago. We came back to hike and bike and enjoy nature in the wilderness. We came to know the people who lived and worked here. We found a part-time piece of their paradise as we purchased a piece of it living many weekends and vacation weeks at our Left Bank studio condo. So many people with who we shared our lives there at Left Bank, both owners and Sugarloaf employees are still a part of this community and a part of our lives.

And COMMUNITY IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT. That is the most important part of what drew us to retire here and build our home in the woods we loved so much and shared with all sorts of wild creatures.

These days, at the above-mentioned age, we are not skiing or hiking, just walking and maybe a little snowshoeing but we can still enjoy the friends and acquaintances of this community. We can use the services available at the new Library and Community Center and give back by volunteering our time and skills.

There is something for every one of us here in Carrabassett Valley.
Again, I say THANK YOU!
Louise Chase
