Dispatcher Ryan praised
WESTERN MOUNTAINS — Following are summaries of some of the local law enforcement agencies’ and emergency services’ activities last week.
Carrabassett Valley Police
Carrabassett Valley Police Chief Scott Nichols paid tribute this week to Robin Ryan, dispatcher at the communications center who assisted the Carrabassett Valley Fire Department and the Ski Patrol rescue personnel with the recovery recently of two separate groups of snowboarders who had become lost on the backside of Sugarloaf.
In other police news from the resort, Officer Tom Cummings charged a Carrabassett Valley woman with Operating Under the Influence, investigated a noise complaint and a criminal mischief complaint.
Cpl. Rod Small investigated two theft complaints, two accident reports and one missing person report.
Officer Matthew Hunt investigated two accidents and a dog complaint.
Officer Kelly Leet investigated two loud party complaints and responded to a medical emergency.
Lt. Randy Walker investigated a report of suspicious activity and responded to a report of a down power line.
The officers responded to 134 requests for service that included nineteen unlock complaints, eight citizen assists, seven parking complaints, 15 fire alarms, eight low temperature alarms, 12 burglary alarms and three property checks.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Department
At the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, dispatchers sent deputies on Feb. 26 to a call for Fire Rescue on the Faunce Road in Rangeley, another Fire/Rescue call on the Glenn Harris Road in New Sharon and a Fire Rescue call on the New Vineyard Road in Farmington. Also on Feb. 26 deputies responded to trees on the power lines on the Indian Stream Road in Kingfield, trees down on the William’s Road in Rangeley, responded to a call of traffic control on Route 27 in Eustis and a motor vehicle accident on Route 2 in New Sharon.
On Feb. 27 deputies responded to a call of a vehicle off the road on Route 27 in New Vineyard, assisted a citizen on the Gray Road in Sandy River Plantation, responded to an animal complaint on Main Street in Rangeley and a motor vehicle accident on Lake Avenue in Farmington.
On Feb. 28 deputies responded to a car accident on the Dodge Pond Road in Rangeley, deputies received a call to remove a subject from a residence on Mill Street in Kingfield, investigated a complaint of criminal mischief on North Ross Avenue in Phillips, responded to a call of illegal dumping on Riverside Street in Kingfield, a complaint of theft on the Axis Mundi Road in Eustis, assisted with a structure fire on Park Street in Phillips and responded to a 911 call on Main Street in Kingfield.
On March 1 deputies investigated a motor vehicle accident on Route 27 in Kingfield, made an arrest on Route 27 in Coburn Gore, served papers in Madrid and investigated a suspicious person on the Old Dead River Road in Eustis.
On March 2 deputies made a welfare check on the Old Dead River Road in Eustis, investigated an accident on Route 27 in Kingfield responded to a fire alarm on Depot Street in Kingfield, investigated lost property on the Salem Road in Salem Township, issued a summons on Route 27 in Eustis, investigated a 911 hang-up on the Bray Hill Road in Phillips, responded to a call of an accident on Main Street in Rangeley and assisted another agency on the New Vineyard Road in New Vineyard.
On March 3 deputies made a warrant arrest on Ledge Drive in New Vineyard, did paperwork service on the Fontaine Road in Stratton.
On March 4 deputies responded to an oven fire on Shadagee Lane in Phillips and investigated a bad check on the Old Dead River Road in Eustis.
NorthStar Ambulance Service
The NorthStar Ambulance Service had a busy week according to manager Mike Senecal responding to some 161 calls for service. Those calls included one in Avon, one in Canton, eight in Carrabassett Valley, two in Chesterville, one in Dallas Plantation, one in Eustis, 12 in Farmington Center, 60 in Farmington, 12 in Jay, 12 Kingfield, one in Lewiston, four in Livermore, six in Livermore Falls, one in New Portland, five in New Sharon, one in Phillips, five in Rangeley, one in Rangeley Plantation, six in Sandy River Plantation, two in Stratton, five in Strong and 14 in Wilton.
