Town’s computer cleaned of virus
KINGFIELD –- The selectmen, after hearing resident John Dill’s various recommendations and concerns about budget issues with the upcoming Town Meeting also heard additional questions from John Goldfrank. The board along with Administrative Assistant Doug Marble and the two residents found common grounds to agree and smoothly transition into the town’s fist ever six-month town meeting.
The six-month budget was a preliminary budget before switching to a new fiscal year starting on June 30 and ending July 1. The six-month town meeting was scheduled for the following Saturday morning.
Other business was light that evening. A town office computer was identified as having a large virus that was fixed by C-Prompt Computers for $75. Others may need attention in the future, Marble said.
Members also discussed and agreed to clean the town office carpets at a proposed price of $130.80.
Members also discussed who might serve on the Kingfield, Carrabassett Valley, Eustis, Kingfield and Coplin Budget Committee for the Franklin County Commissioners. It was mentioned that Kingfield selectman Neal McCurdy might volunteer. Caucuses were held on March 8 at the County Courthouse.
Marble recommended Kingfield join Maine WARN at no cost, which is a cooperative function of Maine utilities available to help other utilities such as waste water districts during times of emergency or stress. It was agreed to join this initiative.
Marble also informed the selectmen of the Maine Department of Transportations project to resurface Route 27 with a 5/8 inch hot mix is starting on May 27 and expected to be completed on June 12. The project will run from the River Road in New Portland through High Street in Kingfield.
