Thanks to so many for making the tournament such a success
To the editor:
I would like to thank everyone involved in helping make The Dee Dee Simpson Basketball Tournament such a fun and successful event! From contributors, parents, PTC, participants, to concession and coaching volunteers. Everyone is valuable when organizing events like this.
Parents, thank you for your support in letting your children participate in practices for the past couple of weeks and being patient with our playing over time. I’m not sure who had more fun... the kids or myself. Special thanks to Team coaches: Keegan Rolbiecki, Mitchell Gray, Brett Simpson, Lindsey Benoit, Kristie Fortenbacker and Eliza Sitz.
Thank you so much to our generous contributors. There are a few more donations expected in. PTC covered the cost of the t-shirts and cinch bags. Simple Tees designed and made our t-shirts and cinch bags. Our local businesses are the best! I realize how often you businesses are asked for your help and I appreciate your faithfulness to this fundraiser!
As the actual event takes place, there are many helpers who deserve recognition. Kim Kearing, Doreen Chamberlain, Gail Steward, Tina Wyman, Faith Gould, Eddy Ellis, and Jed Stevens for helping with set up and operating the gate and concession. Thanks to Kathy Matthews for her professional singing of “The Star Spangled Banner.” I love it and appreciate your willingness. Joey Lampron and Jamey Howard, thank you for refereeing the Tournament. I know you were dying to jump in and play!
Thank you adult players for your t-shirt donations and giving of your time... and bodies. Hope you didn’t suffer too many leg cramps. What great sports you all are! Looks like we may have to extend our program next year because interest in the game has grown. Linda Lowell, you can play on my team any time. Natie Boy, there is no I in team... you make me smile!
Finally, a special thanks to Mike and Merrill Steward who stayed behind helping me clean up and take care of equipment. It always makes things worth it when so many are eager and willing to jump in and help.
Until next year,
Volunteer Coordinator
