GILFORD, N.H. -– It’s nothing but downhill from here on for Mt. Abram freshman Sadie James who not only competed in the J2 Championships, but qualified to compete in the 2010 TD Bank Eastern High School Nordic Championship at Gilford’s Gunstock Resort last weekend.

James competed in the 5K freestyle, the 1.2K sprint and the 7.5 mass start classical.

In a competition with some of the best racers in the nation with some names sure to surface at the next Winter Olympics, over 110 athletes competed in the girls’ event.

The east is one of the most competitive regions in the nation producing some of the countries top elite athletes.

As a freshman, James impressed and managed to finish her races in the middle of the pack. This is not a bad place to be with three more years of high school racing ahead.
