Saddleback’s Ski School growing and strong

RANGELEY — On Feb. 22 and 23, Saddleback hosted a Professional Ski Instructors of America event which was very well attended. Kris Ohlson, Holland Hughes and Patti Howe, three of Saddleback’s Ski and Ride School coaches, passed their exam and received their level one PSIA certification.

“These three great instructors have all earned another well-deserved feather in their caps,” said Mark Robie, Saddleback’s Ski and Ride School director. “It is a big achievement, especially right after a long and lesson-filled February vacation week.”

During February vacation week, Saddleback’s lessons for children (a service which did not exist at Saddleback three years ago), grew 95 percent over last year. Adult group lessons went up 177 percent over last year. Private lessons and Learn to Ski/Ride lessons also jumped considerably.

“Our goal is to keep classes small so that all students get the attention they deserve and, even with this outstanding growth, we met that goal. Over vacation week, our class size averaged less than three students, 2.6 to be exact,” said Robie.
