(Irregular file photo) SALEM — The district-wide Art Show will be held Monday, April 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mt. Abram High School on the same date, the annual Empty Bowl Supper will take place in the cafeteria from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Empty Bowl Suppers originated with potters in New Hampshire and have now spread nation-wide. The goal is to bring awareness to the public about the problems of hunger by creating a soup kitchen-like atmosphere.

Students from two pottery class at the high school have been hard at work crafting unique and creative bowls for the public to choose from. A donation of $8 per bowl is suggested.

To fill the bowls, the Personal Chef class has cooked up corn chowder and minestrone, as well as bread to have on the side. Desserts will also be provided.

The district-wide Art Show, taking place from 4 to 6 p.m., will include visual arts and band music from grades kindergarten through 12. The district’s steel drum band will also be performing.

“Come check out the artwork of students K-12 before sampling some student-made soup in studentmade bowls,” a spokesperson for the event said. “The students of Mt. Abram and MSAD #58 hope to see you there!”
