POPS donors invited to BSO concert and reception
KINGFIELD -– The Kingfield POPS and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra invite Kingfield POPS sponsors who donate $1,000 or more to the POPS before April 10 to attend a special concert at Bangor’s Collins Center on Sunday, April 18 at 3 p.m. The concert, “Mozart in Paris,” features the full orchestra and Suzanne Nance, the guest soloist who will be singing at the Kingfield POPS concert on June 26.
POPS patrons will be offered some of the finest seats at the Collins Center and will also be invited to attend a reception afterwards at the Hudson Museum with wine and hors d’oeuvres. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Suzanne Nance and the conductor, Musical Director candidate Michael Butterman. Guests are also invited to the conductor’s pre-concert lecture at 2 p.m.
During these economically challenging times, the Kingfield POPS is more committed than ever to making the annual concert accessible and affordable to local families. As always, youth tickets are free, and local ticket sales have been kicked off with a two-week sale offering adult tickets at prices reduced by 25 to 40 percent. But ticket sales only cover a portion of the cost of bringing a symphony orchestra to rural Maine and the POPS counts on donor support to make the concert possible.
Donor support also makes it possible for the POPS to bring music into the schools and offer music enrichment and performance opportunities to area youth. The Kingfield POPS brings professional musicians into the schools to perform, conduct workshops and master classes. It has also helped the high school band travel to Florida, made it possible for students to attend youth concerts in Bangor, offered music scholarships to talented young students, and funded and organized an instrument drive to provide loan instruments to students in MSAD #9 and MSAD #58.
In addition to this special bonus concert in Bangor, POPS patrons receive various other benefits, including tickets, invitations to the pre-concert Patron’s Party, VIP parking, space at Sponsor’s Row at the Festival of the Arts, and various levels of recognition, depending on the level at which a donor gives.
