Evelyn M. Wilcox

1915-2010 — She enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting

PHILLIPS — Evelyn M. Wilcox, age 94, died at her home on April 9, 2010. where she was currently being cared for by her great-granddaughter, Vellie Wilcox, and great-great-granddaughter, Kelsi Nicholson.

She was born May 13, 1915 in Coplin Plantation the daughter of John and Sylvia Campbell Bachelder. She was educated in the schools of Lower Dallas Plantation. She married Everett Wilcox on May 20, 1931 and he died in June of 1997. She was employed by the Diamond Match mill in Phillips in her younger years and later for many years at the Forster Mfg. Mill in Strong where she retired in 1985. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting. She and her husband were well known throughout the area for their large vegetable gardens and selling their produce.

She is survived by a son, Richard Wilcox of Avon; two daughters, Ruby and Winona Wilcox who are both residents at the Sandy River Nursing Home in Farmington; six grandchildren, Everett (Duff) Wilcox of Canton, Scott Wilcox and wife, Mary, of Rangeley, Lance Wilcox of

Avon, Dale Wilcox of Avon, Candy Wilcox of and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband; six brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Phillips Congregational Church, Main St., Phillips with Pastor Sue Kaplan-Burgess officiating.

Interment will be at the Mile Square Cemetery in Avon later in the spring.
