Join our walk-a-thon and help preserve history

Have your gotten your pledge sheets for the Dead River Area Historical Society Walk-A-Thon planned for Saturday, May 1, or have you pledged someone who is participating in the Walk-a-Thon? If not, it’s not too late.

Pledge sheets can be picked up at Pine’s Market, Northland Cash, Fotter’s Market, and Arnold Trail Quality Fuel and Sports Center and they need to be turned in at the walk-a-thon Saturday.

Historical restoration is a major undertaking and we do need your help. Last year we raised enough money to paint the cupola and roof. This year our north outside wall is exposed to the elements and needs painting. Bare wood is showing and that wood is 132 years old. Please help us preserve this building. Donations will be appreciated as well.

Starting time for the walk-a-thon will run from 10 a.m. to noon, starting place will be at the Stratton school parking lot; walk up School Street, first station will be at Earl Meyers’ and turning around at the site of the old dump 2 miles away and returning to the bank parking lot.

This will be a fun and fit activity for all ages from kindergartners through senior citizens. Drinks and snacks will be provided at each mile marker along the way.

If you have any questions, call me at 246-2271.
