KINGFIELD — Members of the Norton-Wuori American Legion and Auxiliary met on Monday night, April 5, for a dinner of oyster stew and corn chowder, as well as the installation of new officers.
Charles Bennett Department Sgt. at Arms and 4th District Commander and Kenneth Bouchard of Livermore Falls of Post # 10 and Department Chaplin for the State of Maine assisted with the installation of the new officers.
Brian Hatfield was installed as the new Commander for the Kingfield Post and said it would be a tough job filling the shoes of the outgoing Commander Bert Dyer.
Dyer was presented with a framed certificate for his service to the Norton/Wuori American Legion Post for the past 30 years.
Dyer thanked the Auxiliary members for providing the wonderful meals for the Legion over the years and all the Legion members who had been so supportive “making us the top of the rank in the State of Maine,” he said.
Dyer presented the gavel to Hatfield telling those present saying, “I believe Hatfield will take us down the right path.”
“I look forward to more good food on my watch,” Hatfield told the Auxiliary members.
The members discussed Boys’ State and said there were at least two juniors who had indicated that they would be interested in going. Hatfield said that at the May 3 meeting plans would be made for Memorial Day.
