Dera L. Thompson
NORWAY —- Dera L. Thompson, 80, of Norway died Tuesday, April 13, at her residence.
She was born in Carrabassett, on Jan. 27, 1930 to Briceno and Hazel (Nile) Haines. She graduated from West Paris High School. She married Earle Thompson on June 10, 1950. She had been a homemaker most of her married life. She cared for over 50 foster children during her life. She enjoyed her cats, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and also loved to cook and sew, do ceramics, flowers, and especially driving her Mercury.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years of marriage, Earle Thompson of Norway; a daughter, Tina, and husband, E. Scot Colby, of Oxford; a son, Michael, and his wife, Eileen Thompson, also of Oxford; four grandchildren, Charlie, Tobi, Ashley and Joshua; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by an infant son, Brice Thompson; two brothers, Robert Haines and Charles Haines.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Dera’s life on Saturday, April 17, at 1 p.m. at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Route 26, Oxford. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn.
