KINGFIELD — Cindy Charles, Kingfield’s acting postmaster, recently announced that her rural carriers have been awarded Expert Safe Driving Performance certificates.
Charmayne Coffren received one for 29 years of exceptional driving performance and Dorene Wood received the same award for 15 years of safe service.
“This is really a tribute to how dependable they are,” Charles explained.
The two carriers said that wildlife, such as deer and moose, have certainly created some close calls, and they’ve witnessed many other accidents as well as strange and unusual events over the years.
The certificate was issued by Janet Froetscher, president and CEO of the National Safety Council.
“I think they provide an example for not only postal drivers but for all travelers on our roads,” Charles said. “They encounter some of the toughest driving conditions and never fail to meet their duties as professionals. And they always do it with a smile, a positive attitude and with a high level of energy. We’re really lucky to have them.”
