David R. Frey
SALEM TOWNSHIP — David R. Frey, 67, of Salem Township died April 29, 2010 at the Hospice House in Auburn with his wife by his side where he had been a patient for the past week following a long illness.
He was born April 13, 1943 in New Haven, Conn., the son of Russell and Virginia Cramer Frey. He was educated in the schools of New Haven, Conn. graduating in 1961 from the Eli Whitney Vocational High School. He was employed by the Cousineau Lumber Company in his early years and later was self employed as a master electrician until ill health forced his retirement in 2007.
He was a member of the Aldelphia Blue Lodge in New Haven, Conn. as well as a member of the Valley of New Haven Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a member of Mt Abram Lodge # 204 AF and AM of Kingfield where he had received his 40-year pin. He was a past fire chief and charter member of the Salem Fire Dept., and served on the Mt. Abram Cemetery Association Board of Directors for many years where he was also past president. Dave was an active member of the Salem Gun Club, Salem Outlaws Sporting Club, Sportsman Alliance of Maine and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Frey of Salem; one daughter, Susan Parlin and her husband, Ken, of Albrightsville, Pa.; one grandson, David Bachelder of Albrightsville, Pa.; one granddaughter, Britney Bachelder of Albrightsville, Pa.; two stepsons, Foster Robinson and wife, Kim, of Kingfield, Philip Robinson and wife, Mary, of West New Portland; four step-grandchildren, Dillon Robinson and Garrett Robinson of Kingfield, Brittan Robinson and Kristina Robinson of West New Portland.
He was predeceased by his parents and younger brother John Frey.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Abram Cemetery in Salem with the Mt. Abram Masonic Lodge #204 AF and AM officiating.
