Carrabec announces honor parts

NORTH ANSON — Kenneth Coville, principal, recently announced the honor parts for the class of 2010 at Carrabec High School.
Myranda Knight, Carrabec’s Valedictorian, has been a quiet, unassuming leader, Coville said in a recent news release. With a grade point average of 96, she has completed several college level courses, including Independent Study Art courses. She has received many academic excellence awards in English and Social Studies as well as Mountain Valley Conference Athletic awards in softball and soccer. Knight received the Mountain Valley Conference Academic All-Star Award this year.
She has been involved in many school organizations such as Art Club (Co- President), JMG (Officer), Business League, Will Power, Outdoor Club, Cooking Club, Yearbook and has been a Dirigo Girls’ State Representative as well a State of Maine Senate Page. Knight has also been involved in many athletic activities such as Varsity Softball (Captain/Catcher) and Varsity Soccer (Captain).

Knight will be attending Rivier College in New Hampshire majoring in Photography. She is the daughter of Craig and Raelynne Knight of Anson.
Katelyn Kniffin, Carrabec’s Salutatorian, is a student of the highest caliber who strives for excellence, Coville wrote. She has a grade point average of 95.5 and has received many academic excellence awards in English, Social Studies, Biology and the Society of Women Engineers award.
Not only was Kniffin chosen as Student of the Month at CHS but also received the 2010 Principal’s award. She has been involved with JMG, Business League, Dirigo Girls’ State, Student Council, Diversity Day presenter and was a State of Maine Senate Page. She also is an active member of the National Honor Society. In addition Kniffin participated in Track and Soccer (Captain) and was chosen as a Mountain Valley Conference Second Team All-Star.
Kniffin will be attending the Johnson State College in Vermont with a major in Alternative Medicine. She is the daughter of Rick and Tracy Kniffin of North Anson.
Graduation is Sunday, June 6, at 2 p.m. in the Carrabec High School gymnasium.
