George H. Stanley
NORWAY —- George H. Stanley, 81, of Norway, died Monday, May 10, 2010, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Kingfield, Dec. 25, 1928, to William and Emily (Wood) Stanley. He graduated from Deering High School in 1946. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army.
He married the former Dolores Bailey on Aug. 20, 1950. He was a sales manager for the Maine Central Railroad for many years. He was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time in Florida. He was a descendant of the inventors of the Stanley Steamer and a member of the Stanley Museum in Kingfield.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dolores Bailey of Norway; and a sister, Ruth Nichols of Durham; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Stanley.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Oxford Hills Funeral Services in Oxford. Interment followed at Norway Pine Grove Cemetery in South Paris.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital For Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, Massachusetts 01104.
