Timothy O. Baker
LEWISTON —- Timothy Olavi Baker, “Tim”, 66, of Rangeley, formerly of Sanford, died suddenly of natural causes on Wednesday, May 12, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born July 9, 1943, in Sanford, the son of Thomas J. and Doris (Allen) Baker. He graduated from Sanford High School and apprenticed at the Kittery Shipyard. On Aug. 7, 1965, he married Catherine Zaprzalka in Sanford.
For many years, he was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a machinist.
He was a longtime member of the Sanford Call Fire Department and was a member of the Rangeley Congregational Church. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fly fishing, hunting and skiing. He was a former member of the Saddleback Ski Patrol and was a member of SAM and the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsman’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Catherine of Rangeley; one son, Andrew P. “Andy” Baker and his wife, Micah and their son, Emmett of Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother, Ty Baker and his wife, Roxanne, of Acton; one sister, Cherry Baker and her husband, Mark Arsenault, of Saco; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; twin infant daughters, Karen and Janet; and a son, Jeffrey T. Baker in 1985.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 15, 2010, from the Rangeley Congregational Church with the Rev. Bill Carter officiating.
Private family interment will take place later in the summer at the Oakdale Cemetery, Sanford.
