COPLIN PLANTATION — The Stratton-Eustis Lion’s Club will be one of the many Lions Clubs in the State of Maine that will be sponsoring a bike rider in the Tour de Cure Diabetic Bike Ride June 13.
Again this year, the club will support Bob Dennett, a member who lives in North Yarmouth and part-time in Coplin Plantation.
Dennett, a diabetic himself said that this is a project near and dear to his heart, last year he alone raised $2,300 toward a cure for Diabetes.
“It’s not a bike race. We leave Kennebunk High School and circle around about 15 miles back to the high school,” said Dennett.
Dennett is captain of the Maine Lion’s Bike Team and Chairman of the District 41 Diabetic Awareness program. This year he presented his bike team with special tee shirts that read “Stomp Out Diabetes.”
Because Dennett raised more than $1,000 he qualifies for the Red Rider Club and earned him a Tour de Cure Red Rider shirt.
If anyone would like to support Dennett’s bike run they can make checks out to the American Diabetic Association at 207 Mt. Fort Road, North Yarmouth, Maine 04097, and designate them to his name, which according to Dennett will be very much appreciated.
