Margaret Wilson
FARMINGTON — Margaret Wilson, a resident of Hazel Thompson Apartments, went to be with her Lord on May 17, 2010.
She was born in Phillips on April 17, 1915, the daughter of John Indice and Ethel (Wright) Harnden. She was educated in schools in Phillips and Newburyport, Mass.
She married Elwood Wilson on June 8, 1951 in Wilton. He died on June 29, 1992. Margaret lived in Phillips and Strong and has lived in Farmington for over 30 years. She worked at Diamond Match in Phillips and at Strong Wood Turning and Forster’s Manufacturing Company in Strong for 27 years. After her retirement, she worked at Forster’s in East Wilton and at the Sandy River Living Center. She took flying lessons and got her solo permit in 1946. She loved to climb mountains with her family. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds that came to her many feeders year round. One hobby that she enjoyed was collecting giraffes. She had more than 300 different ones.
Her greatest love was for her Savior and she always looked forward to going to Heaven. She was a member of the Strong Church of the Nazarene and taught Sunday School for over 45 years. She also served as missionary president and was a life-long member of the church board.
Margaret is survived by her son, Malcolm Hood and his wife, Judy, of Crystal River, Fla.; her daughters, Rosanna Kingsley and her husband, David, of Brockton, Mass., and
Nora Therrien and her husband, Jeffrey, of West Freeman; step-daughter, Evelyn Corson and her husband, Gerald, of Jay; and Elaine Romanoski of Avon. She is also survived by her brother, Herschall Harnden, of Sandy River Living Center; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Roger and Melvin Hood; three brothers, Everett, Lionel, and Arthur Harnden; two sisters, Cora Miller and Dorothy Damon; and two grandchildren, Jean Hood and Jodi Therrien.
A celebration of life will be held at the Strong Church of the Nazarene on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 1 p.m.
